Inform has been updated to release 5T18 — a celebration of the 15th birthday of Inform in general, and the second birthday of Inform 7 in particular.
It looks like an enormous backstage restructuring, rather than a release of big new features. But we’ll have to see: the Windows and GNOME/Linux versions are yet to arrive, and I don’t run Mac OS. Cue much drumming of fingers in tense and nervous anticipation.

“A blog is a kind of thing” is valid source code in the programming language Inform 7, which I work with. It creates a new kind of thing, called a blog.
A Blog Is A Kind Of Thing is also the name of this blog. Mainly I’m afraid I’m going to use it to vent frustrations about Inform 7. So to counteract the ensuing swell of tetchy programmerly muttering and overall negativity, let me start by saying that writing Inform 7 is about the most pleasant computer coding experience that can be hoped for.
